Aion Health is a Sierra Leonean non-profit focused on improving health, education, and research by tackling high maternal and infant mortality through volunteer-staffed mobile clinics that deliver free healthcare, medications, consultations, and education to underserved and remote communities.
It prioritizes maternal health, disease prevention, family planning, WASH, and community awareness, especially for pregnant women and children, while using community-based research to improve services and outcomes.#
In Sierra Leone, malaria remains a major health burden, with over 2.5 million cases and more than 6,800 deaths reported in 2019, highlighting the urgent need for accessible healthcare. Through its volunteer network and outreach programs, Aion Health strengthens access to care and builds healthier, more informed, and resilient communities across the country.
Project
Aion Health SL’s recent projects focus on mobile healthcare delivery, women and girls empowerment, and community-based public health data systems in underserved areas of Sierra Leone.
Mobile Health Outreach Program: Delivering Hope and Healing
The Aion Health SL Mobile Health Outreach Program delivers free, volunteer-led healthcare services—including diagnostics, maternal care, family planning, and health education—to underserved rural communities, improving access and long-term health outcomes.
EmpowerHER with Tech: Equipping Women for the Future of Work
The EmpowerHER with Tech Program by Aion Health SL equips 50 underserved women in Bo with digital, entrepreneurial, and professional skills, enabling them to launch businesses, access jobs, and drive economic empowerment.
DigitalHER: Empowering Girls Through Health, Technology, and Entrepreneurship
The DigitalHER Program by Aion Health SL equips adolescent girls in Sierra Leone with sexual and reproductive health knowledge, digital skills, and entrepreneurship training, enabling them to make informed decisions, start businesses, and become confident community leaders.
SaniTrack: Turning Data into Action for Healthier Communities
The SaniTrack Program by Aion Health SL trains community volunteers to collect real-time sanitation data using digital tools, enabling evidence-based decision-making with local authorities to improve waste management, reduce health risks, and promote healthier communities in Bo and surrounding areas.
